prep for tomorrow.

to put 4x5 sheet films in the holders, i don't need to close the curtains, because i use a 'dark-bag' ... but i feel very uncomfortable to work in a shiny room, even i know inside of a 'dark-bag' its no light came in... so a always close the curtains to my peace of mind;) and actually, putting the films in the holder... its not my favorite job... i haven't got used to doing it yet... but this is what i have to do, so i did it anyway.






well. now the prep is done i think!

4x5のフィルムをホルダーに入れる作業って、いつまでたっても慣れなくて、なんか嫌だなーって後回しにしちゃうんだけど、結局どうしてもやらないといけないことだから、今日は明日の撮影のために頑張ってやった。この作業するとき、暗袋？（専用のバッグ）を使えば、その中には光は入ってこないってわかってるけど、部屋が明るいとどうしても本当に大丈夫なのか心配になっちゃうから、気分を楽にするために？必ずカーテンを閉めたり、夜になってからやるんだけど、こういう写真家の人、他にもいるよね？どうかな？とにかく準備はできた。そして閉めたカーテンの隙間から漏れてくる光がすごく綺麗だった。

they always say to me 'while you are here, feel like home here' ... yes actually, i can be very relax before/during/after my work here:)

滞在中、彼らはいつも「ここにいる間は、ここをホームだと思ってくつろいで」って言ってくれる。
こーんな場所で、ホームのように安心しきってくつろげる環境がすごいといつも思う。
くつろげない場所にいると、それだけでストレスになっちゃって仕事に影響するけど
ここにいると、思う存分、めいっぱい、勉強して、撮影できる。
そんな環境を作る自然と人々に本当に感謝。

very special rocks...

なんか、ものすごく特別な感じの岩。

once, she was a sheep--- i spent a time for taking pictures of a dead sheep. i heard she died over a year ago.

first day in here. i met this dead sheep along the river near the dam. that time i couldn't even take snap photos of her. But I couldn't forget about her for a few days either. So i asked Kristmundur to take me back there. today, while Kristmundur worked at the control room of the dam, i spent a time with her. it was a very very special spiritual time for me.





かつて羊だった亡がら。というか、もうウールしか残ってない。でもその元の姿や、その魂が伝わってくる。この羊、初日にこの辺りに来たときに出会った。でもその時はスナップ写真にすら撮る事ができなかった。けど、あれからずっと、忘れる事が出来ずにいた。なので今日、Kristumundurに羊の眠る場所にまた連れてってくれと頼み、彼がダムのコントロールルームで仕事している間、私はこの羊と、ハッセルと共に時を過ごした。とても不思議な気持ちがたくさんだった。

3rd day. what a sky! i love the shadow of the clouds, and today the colour of the lakes are very differently blue too!!

３日目。なんつう空！！！晴れた日に、山の上に見える「雲の影」が大好きだ。というか、この「山の上の雲の影」を初めて見た時の衝撃はすごくて、今でもびっくりする。ダムに続く湖の色も、昨日までと全然違って、ブルー！

Anna who is a kitchen staff of the station, knitted an icelandic traditional sweater for her little sister :)

since i saw so many sheep around, now i see the sheep in woolen yarn very much.



夏休みのプログラム、発電所のキッチンスタッフとして働いているアンナが、妹のためにって、アイスランドのトラディショナルセーターを編んでいた。放牧中の羊を見たせいだろうな。ウールの毛糸を見ると羊をとっても感じる。

Glaumbæ, the farm and folk museum

an 18th century turf farm, now became the folk museum. Kristmundur dropped in here for me on the way home one day. in there as well, i was so proud of me being with a perfect guide, Kristmundur!! (and i think some tourists were lucky because they could also hear his so detail stories for everything there)

18世紀の（お金持ちの）ファーマーの土の家がそのまま残ってて、ミュージアムになってる場所にもKristmundurは連れてってくれた。そしてそこにある何もかもを、パーフェクトなガイドとしていろいろ説明してくれて、そのおかげでたまたま居合わせた他のツーリスト達も得したと思う。

Kristmundur from the power station, i really love to be a passenger on his drive. he gives me so many knowledge from little one to huge one.

Kristmundur. sometimes he is in charge(?) of me at the station. He often nicely offered for me to join the car when he needed to go somewhere. he knew it may be the great interest for me ;) I really like it... i mean... i really like it!!! i think... he is the one of my important resources!! Icelandic people are super kind and always try to help people if we want to do, want to know something. But the problem for me is... things in Iceland (especially in the country side) are usually very beyond of my knowledge and imagination. So, even i want to know something (yes i want to know something!!) but i can't even guess what are the things, I have no idea what to ask.... but!! i am more than sure, so many things the icelandic people have in them. i just need to pick up the information from the drawer in their brain and heart! Kritmundur is very good on it, because he also enjoys to share what he has in himself:) on the road, if he saw something, he explained about them to me with his lots of lots of lots of experiences and knowledge.


icelandic people respect sheep very much because of so many reasons. i think i have now more or less similar respect feelings to sheep.

on the way back, he took the longer way for me and took me to a little accommodation in the middle of nooooowhere. this is the place his friends run.



also he showed me 'the connection point' for the electricity.


and very very many more so detail important stories i heard from him, but those details are coming later (maybe...!)


発電所のおじさんで、よく私の世話をしてくれるKristmundurの車に乗せてもらってる時間がとても好きだ。アイスランドでは人々がみんなやさしくて、私が何かしたかったり、知りたかったりしたら、みんな助けてくれようとする。「なんでも聞いて」と言ってくれるんだけど、それには１つ問題があって、何かというと、アイスランドで起きるいろいろや、その存在のいろいろが、常に私の知識や想像をはるかに超えてしまってるということで、私は「何かについて」とても知りたいと思ってるんだけど、何を知りたいのかわからないのね。けど、アイスランドの人たちの頭や心の中には、私の知りたい事がたくさん詰まってて、それが何であろうと、それは私の知りたかったことで、でもそれを知るまでそのことについては何も知らなかったから、それを知りたかったって事すら知らなかった・・・みたいな（伝わるかなこれ？）。とにかく。アイスランドの人たちから「何かを知りたい」私は、彼らからその「何か」を引き出さなきゃなんないんだけど、そのためには一緒にドライブ行ったり、歩いたりするのが一番。とくにサービス精神が旺盛だったり、そういうのが得意だったりする人は、彼らが見るもの、感じるもの、知ってるものを周りに見つけると、それについて彼らの経験に基づき説明してくれる。Kristmundurはそれがとても上手で、彼自身もそれを楽しんでいるんだって。わたしはそのお話を聞くのが大好き。

2nd day. it was the day the dam 'overflow' started. because of summer, glacier melting more and more.

Kristmundur worked hard to measure accurate above sea-level hight of the dam. in an old way!

夏。ダムのある川の上流の氷河がとけるから、水がたくさんになって、ダムがあふれる。あふれるといっても、ダムをせき止める前に自然の川だった部分に流れ込むだけなので大惨事じゃなくて別に普通なんだけど、ダムができた20年前からは、川の水が通常少なくなった事をいいことに、川沿いに住む酪農家（羊や馬を飼ってるファームの人たち）が川で釣りをする権利を与えられて、その権利を観光に使ったり釣り人に託したりで、大事な収入源となってるそうで。でもダムの水があふれると、氷河の水はにごってるし、水の流れが速すぎて釣りできなくなるから、発電所はダムがあふれるときに「これからあふれますよー」と近所のファーマーにお知らせする必要があるそうだ。その日時を正確にお知らせするために、ダムの海抜測定値の機械をミリ単位で調整するため、ものごーく基本的な方法「メジャーで測る！」で調整していた。

soon after i arrived the Blanda Hydropower Station, i luckily could join to the cruise to the dam. and i felt the enormous power of water there..

this is the hydro power which create the electric energy...

発電所についてすぐ、ラッキーなことに、ちょうどダムまで行くんだけどいっしょにどう？ということで、同乗させてもらった。そして、ものすごい勢いの水のパワーを、改めて間近で感じた。
